Audie Murphy is
forced to take on greater and greater responsibilities as his mother slips
into a serious and prolonged illness. Audie is now playing the role of both
mother and father despite the fact that he is only 15 or 16 in this scene.
Audie never complained about these responsibilities either. Audie dearly
loved his mother, brothers, and sisters and did everything he possibly could
for them. In this scene, Audie has prepared breakfast for his younger siblings.
He will also take his mother's meal to her since she is bedridden.
