After the second floor has been secured, Sergeant Murphy moves downstairs
and witnesses through an open window the death of one of his best and most
experienced soldiers who gets snarled in a fence while "low-crawling" toward
the cottage. Although other soldiers try to suppress the German fire, they
are unable to prevent the soldier's death who is struggling to untangle
himself from the fence wire. In this picture, another soldier has to be
restrained by Sergeant Murphy after becoming hysterical when he discovers
his best friend has been killed.
