In this scene, a very young Audie Murphy, played by Gordon Gebert, has just come home from
a successful hunting trip. He has killed a rabbit for dinner and is
telling his younger brother to watch the rabbit so it won't run away.
The younger brother assures Audie that he won't let the rabbit out of his
sight.
Audie was a very accomplished marksman. Because his father abandoned the
large family, Audie took it upon himself to help feed the family by hunting
small game. The family also had very little money to buy ammunition so Audie
learned at a very early age to make every shot count.
