Private Murphy is preparing to toss a grenade at a German machine gun nest. Although Private Murphy admitted being very scared going into every battle, he never hesitated in doing his job and had lightning quick reflexes. His best friend, played by Charles Drake, is directly to the left of Private Murphy. Note the striped emblem on the side of the helmet. This is the famous 3rd Infantry Division's symbol also found on their shoulder patch.
