What is the purpose of the Message Center?
To provide people who are interested in Audie Murphy a reliable and consistent forum to exchange information about America's most decorated World War II combat soldier. The message center is a resource for children and adults alike to ask questions about Audie Murphy.

How long do messages remain posted?
To be quite honest, I'm not sure. This service is provided by a company and the terms of the service did not specify this information. I can tell you that all other companies I found that offer this service either limit the number of messages or limit the life of the message to about 90 days. The company hosting this message board offers more services than any other. For this reason, I chose them and set up three boards for various topics. Hopefully, this will help the messages last indefinitely.

How will I know when a response to my message is posted?
If you have included a valid email address, you will receive an automatic email from the author of any message who directly responds to your message. If you don't leave your email address, you will have to periodically check the board for responses.

Can I put html tags anywhere in my posts?
Yes. However, inappropriate html code inserted into messages will result in the deletion of a message by the webmaster. A message that links to offensive web sites or advertises inappropriate products, services, or other web sites unrelated to Audie Murphy are not welcome and will be removed immediately. On the other hand, links to historically appropriate sites, photos, music, etc. are welcome. The rule of thumb here should be if it relates to Audie Murphy and if you would feel comfortable letting your children see it then its probably okay.

How can I print interesting messages?
Unfortunately, the colors of the message's text may make this difficult, depending on your browser. Internet Explorer 4.0 prints the messages fine without any modification. If you experience a problem because of the white text, an easy way to fix this is to drag and highlight the text with your mouse and then copy the text and paste it in an email addressed to yourself. The email's text will be black. Send the email to yourself then print it when it is received. You can also paste it in a text editor such as WordPad or NotePad. This avoids the email method.

Why didn't my post show up?
Your post most likely did not show up, because your browser did not reload the page ... it simply pulled it out of its cache (a place where internet files that have already been downloaded are temporarily stored on your computer's hard drive). Try reloading or "refreshing" your browser. Your post should then appear.

What are the rules of etiquette for submitting a message?
Obscene or offensive language is forbidden. Messages related to the general topic of Audie Murphy are welcome. Any message lacking in good taste should not be submitted. Messages which make outrageous, unsubstantiated claims and which are historically inaccurate or grossly misrepresent facts should not be posted. The message board should not be used as a platform to express personal political or religious beliefs. The webmaster alone reserves the right to determine which messages are appropriate. The webmaster can and will delete any message which does not comply with the stated purpose of the message center.

How can I fix typographical errors?
You can't. The webmaster will probably not do it either unless it is a significant error. The webmaster will generally leave messages in the same form they are submitted. Because of the volume of messages submitted the webmaster will be unable to fix small, minor errors. Significant errors should be brought to the attention of the webmaster, Richard L. Rodgers
[ Post Message ] [ FAQ ]
Is offensive language permissable?
Absolutely not. Message center users should remember that many people use this web site including children. Teachers are using the web site for classroom instructional purposes. Offensive language has no place in the message center. Please contact the webmaster, Richard L. Rodgers, if you discover any offensive language.

Is advertising allowed?
Only if it is related to Audie Murphy. People who wish to exchange information about Audie Murphy memorabilia, videos, etc. may post this information. People who are selling authentic Audie Murphy memorabilia may also post an announcement but must include an expiration date and a valid email address. If this is not included, the message will immediately be removed. Concurrently, the webmaster neither vouches for nor endorses any memorabilia or product information posted on the message center. The webmaster does not guarantee the reliability of any information on any product either. Unrelated commercial information of any kind will not be allowed. The webmaster alone retains the right to determine what is or isn't appropriate. Please contact Richard L. Rodgers, if you suspect inappropriate advertising.
[ Post Message ] [ FAQ ]
Do messages have to be historically accurate?
Opinions, thoughts, and questions are welcome on the web site and in themselves, may or may not be accurate. The webmaster recognizes that people who use the message board are for the most part not historical experts. However, at no time will any untrue or damaging information which is injurous to the reputation of Audie Murphy or insensitive to the surviving family members' feelings be allowed. Please contact Richard L. Rodgers, if you find any messages which you suspect are grossly inaccurate while claiming to be fact or which fail to respect the privacy or feelings of the Murphy family.
