Recently visited Murphy's memorial in France. Hidden in some trees along side a small road. Very nice.

I remember watching movies starring Audie Murphy as a child and always knew he was a WWII hero. More recently we have access to GRIT TV and they have shown several of his movies that I've watched and enjoyed as an adult. Audie Murphy is a true American hero and his actions speak louder than any words could ever voice.

Very interesting web site. As an old soldier who spent many years in the British special forces I felt we should never forget our old soldiers. Keep it going.

it's a shame you died too young, you deserved to live to be a ripe old age. I've always admired you for your bravery, honor and duty.

When I first moved from San Diego to Menifee Valley my family purchased a home built on what had been part of Audie Murphy's ranch. From our home we could look north and see two tall telephone poles set about 15 feet apart. These were to mark the finish line of his yearly race from one end of the ranch to the other. I have not corroborated this information that the long time residents of the valley have stated; however, I have also seen a set of identical poles at the western side of the valley. The vast expanse of grass land and arroyos has been purchased by housing developers and the Audie Murphy Ranch area of track homes are being built rapidly. Although the community that the developers are building is a highly family friendly place and the developers have brought the name of Mr. Murphy back into the valley, I would have liked to see some of the area set aside to remind us why he settled here and the beauty that can be a part of our daily lives. Too many of us are riding fast and furious to get somewhere. I hope that we can all slow down to a trot to enjoy the valley that Audie loved.
