I found this picture in a men's magazine around 1966 or 67 and was captured by it. Audie Always
has and always will have a big place in my heart.
(Before World War II) my father left when I was 8 and I had to quit school to support my mother.
She wouldn't let me go (enlist) when I was 16. She had already lost one son in Germany. (Another
son was wounded) in Germany and two in the Pacific.
I went in at 18. To this day I cry when I watch the movie TO HELL AND BACK. I can relate to
(Audie's) struggles.
