Since 1996 as the stamp petition drive developed momentum and because of the Annual Audie Murphy
Day Celebration in Greenville, Texas the USPS has approved special stamp cancellation marks
honoring Audie Murphy. In the year 2000, the USPS approved two special cancellations, one of which
was used on the First Day Cover issue of the Audie Murphy Commemorative Stamp. All of these
special envelopes and cancellation marks are viewed below.
