These photos were taken outside the historically preserved Dothan, Alabama
Opera house which is located right in the heart of its downtown district.
Recently, in an effort to raise money to help preserve large portions of
its historical district, the city of Dothan, Alabama allowed benefactors the
opporunity to purchase a commemorative brick in honor of a family member or
favorite person. The historical bricks were obtained from other old buildings which
could not be preserved.

Audie L. Murphy Commemorative Brick |
Ms. Roukoski-Clark, in a letter to the Stan Smith, editor of the Audie Murphy
National Fan Club wrote that she "... made the decision to honor not the
National Hero, nor the Hollywood Star -- but the man Audie Leon Murphy."
In the first photo, the person kneeling identifies the approximate position of
the commemorative brick. Thanks Shelby for your selfless
effort in trying to preserve Audie's memory! Thanks to Dothan, Alabama as
well.
